Jam Doughnuts Recipe

Doughnuts are made with numerous ways but round, soft, cardamom and powdered sugar sprinkled and jam stuffed doughnuts are mouth drooling and awesome in taste. Use any flavored jam or jelly or marmalade like pomegranate, apple, orange or capsicum marmalade for stuffing.

Jam Doughnut Ingredients

  •     Maida - 1 cup
  •     Salted butter - 2 tbsp
  •     Milk - ½ cup (lukewarm)
  •     Jam - for stuffing doughnuts
  •     Dry active yeast - ½ tsp
  •     Sugar - 2 tbsp
  •     Powdered sugar - to sprinkle on top of doughnuts
  •     Oil - to fry doughnuts

How to make Jam Doughnuts

For making jam doughnuts firstly knead flour. Take maida in any flour and add butter, dry active yeast and sugar. Mix all ingredients really well. Now add little lukewarm milk at a time and knead soft dough. Keep kneading the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes soft and even.

Grease the dough with butter or oil and cover it and keep it aside for 2 hours so that it becomes puffy.

After 2 hours knead the dough once more. Divide the dough into small 8-10 equal parts. Take 1 part, dust it with dry flour and roll it giving a round shape. Place these balls on a plate and keep them aside for 1-1.5 hours more. They become puffy and double in size.

Balls have become puffy now fry them. Take oil in a pan and place on flame for heating. Gently place 2-3 or as many as possible balls in medium hot oil and fry on medium flame for until they turn golden brown in color from all sides. Fry all doughnuts like wise.

Now sprinkle some powdered sugar on piping hot doughnuts.

Stuff doughnuts with jam, for this place a pointed nozzle inside the cake decorating machine and add jam to it then close the cap. Take one doughnut, make a hole with help of knife and place the machine’s nozzle on top of hole and press the liver so that the jam gets filled in the hole. Like wise stuff all doughnuts with jam.

Jam doughnuts are ready. Serve freshly made doughnuts and enjoy eating. Store jam doughnuts in air tight container and enjoy eating for 2 days.


  •     If you are using unsalted butter for making doughnuts then add ¼ tsp salt in the flour.
  •     If you are using dry active yeast then add lukewarm milk and 1 tsp sugar into it and cover it for 10 minutes so that yeast becomes active.
  •     You can use jam, jelly or marmalade for stuffing the doughnuts.
  •     Instead of using cake decorating machine for stuffing doughnuts, use butter paper cones.
