Potato Khuskhus Curry

Poppy seeds mostly are used for making gravies. You can try making this recipe of Potato with poppy seeds gravy for any special occasion. This sabzi comes out really scrumptious. So, come let's make Potato with poppy seeds gravy for today's dinner.

Ingredients for Aloo Khaskhas Recipe

  •     Potatoes - 1/2 Kg
  •     Poppy seeds - 1/2 cups
  •     Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  •     Green chilly - 3
  •     Ginger - 1 inch long baton
  •     Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  •     Tomato puree - 1/4 cup or Tomato - 3
  •     Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  •     Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp (optional)
  •     Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  •     Chilly powder - 1/4 tsp
  •     Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  •     Oil - 4 tbsp
  •     Salt - 1 tsp (as per taste)
  •     Green coriander - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
     

How to make Aloo Khaskhas Recipe

Clean and wash poppy seeds. Soak them in warm water for 1 hour prior bringing them in use. After 1 hour finely ground poppy seeds along with green chilly, mustard seeds and ginger. Peel and cut potatoes in small chunks.

Preheat some oil in a wok and saute cumin seeds in it. After sauteing cumin seeds, add turmeric powder, coriander powder and stir for 1 to 2 times with help of a spoon. Also add potatoes, red chilly powder and salt. Saute for 2 minutes and then add 2 to 3 tbsp water. Cover and cook on low flame until potatoes get soft. After potatoes get soft, add salt.

Add rest of the oil in another pan. Now add ground poppy seeds-green chilly-ginger paste and stir constantly with a spoon. Saute until oil starts separating from the masala. Now add this masala to the potatoes and some water (as per your preference) for making gravy. Cook sabzi for 3 to 4 minutes, taste the gravy. Adjust the salt as per your taste. Turn off the flame and garam masala in the sabzi. Add some green coriander.  Delicious Potato with poppy seeds gravy is ready.

Take out this tempting curry in a bowl and garnish with some coriander sprigs. Serve piping hot potato poppy seeds curry with parantha or chapatti and relish eating.
