Raw Jackfruit Cutlet Recipe

Ingredients for Raw Jackfruit Cutlets

  •     Raw Jackfruit Cultlets IngredientsJack fruit - 250 grams
  •     Paneer(cheese) - 100 grams
  •     Potatoes - 1 to 2 boiled
  •     Arrowroot or corn flour - 2 tbsp
  •     Salt - 2/3 tsp
  •     Red chilly powder - less than 1/4 tsp(if eat spicy)
  •     Coriander(dhaniya) powder - 1 tsp
  •     Green chillies - 2 (finely chopped)
  •     Ginger - 1 long piece (grate/make a paste).
  •     Green coriander - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  •     Oil - to fry cutlets
 

How to make Raw Jack fruit Cutlets

Cut the jack fruit into fat pieces. Put these pieces in a cooker, add 1/2 glass of water and 1/4 tsp salt in the cooker and boil till 1 whistle goes off. Open the cooker and drain all the water, do remove the skin from the jack fruit's seed.
 
Mash the jack fruit, peel the potatoes and mash them as well. Mix potatoes, jack fruit, arrowroot, salt, coriander powder, ginger and green coriander properly. The mixture needed for making cutlets is ready.
 
You can make the cutlet in 2 ways with this mixture.
 

1. Deep Fried Raw Jackfruit Cutlets

Pour oil in a frying pan(kadhai) and heat, take some of the mixture and give it your desired shape(round/oval) and put it in hot oil. Make 3-4 cutlets or as many that fit n the pan and put them in oil and fry(turning sides from time to time) till they turn brown.Take out the fried cutlets and keep them on a plate covered with a paper napkin. Make more cutlets and fry them, repeat till all of the mixture is used.
 

2. Shallow Fried Raw Jack fruit Cutlets

Take some of the mixture and round it into a ball then flatten a little by gently pressing with your hands. Heat the Tawa(flat pan)a non stick Tawa would be better. Pour oil on the hot Tawa and spread it all over. Place the cutlet on the Tawa to fry, pour some oil all around the cutlet using a spoon, fry on a low flame till its lower layer turns brown and crispy. Now overturn the cutlet using tongs, again pour some oil all around the cutlet and fry till the other side turns brown. Keep the fried cutlet on a plate. Similarly fry all the cutlets. Jack fruit cutlet is ready.
 
Serve hot Jack fruit cutlets with green coriander chutney, sweet chutney and curd.
 
Instead of arrowroot you can also use bread crumbs.
