Raw Papaya is a great source of vitamins and nutrition. We can make curry recipes, salads, and parantha (Raw Papaya Parantha) from raw papaya. But i am sue you will also like the dry recipe made with raw papaya - Raw Papaya Fry.
Ingredients for Raw Papaya Fry
Raw Papaya - 500 gms. (1 small papaya)
Tomato - 3 (medium sized)
Green chilli - 2
Ginger - 1 inch long piece.
Oil - 2-3 table spoon.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
Heeng - 1-2 pinch.
Turmeric powder - 1/3 tea spoon.
Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
Red chilli - 1/6 tea spoon.
Salt - 3/4 tea spoon (or according to the taste)
Garam masala - 1/6 tea spoon (optional)
Coriander powder - 2 table spoon.
Method - How to make Raw Papaya Fry
Wash the papaya and peel it. Cut it into big pieces and wash them again. Strain the water and cut it again into small pieces.
Wash the tomatoes and cut into big pieces. Wash the green chilli, separate the stems from them and cut into 2-3 small pieces. Peel and wash the ginger chopping it into 3-4 big pieces. Put all these ingredients in a mixing jar and make a paste.
heat oil in a cooker and put cumin seeds and heen into it. Let them splutter. Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, tomato paste into it. Stir the masala and roast it till the oil starts to float it at the top of it.
Put papaya pieces into the roasted masala along with salt. Stir with the spoon to mix well and cook it for 2 minutes. Pour 2/3 cup water into the pan and close it with a lid to pressure upto 1 whistle. After the whistle, lower down the flame and cook the recipe for another 3-4 minutes.
Open the lid and put garam masala and coriander leaves in the recipe. Mix them well.
Raw Papaya Fry is ready. Serve it with chapati, naan or parantha.
If you want to add onion into the recipe, then chop 1 onion and 4-5 garlic. Put them into the pan once the cumin seeds tampers and roast until the onions and garlic turn light pink in colour followed by adding tomato paste into it. Follow rest of the steps in the same manner as stated above to prepare the recipe.
