Sprouted Moong Dal Curry Recipe

Lentils(dal) are an important part of our daily food. If we make it differently everyday then it chages the taste of our food and tastes much better. Lentils are high on protein and carbohydrates, but the sprouts increase its nutrition.

Ingredients for Sprouted Moong Dal Curry

  •         Sprouted lentils - 1 cup
  •         Salt - add to taste (1 tsp)
  •         Tomatoes - 2
  •         Ginger - 1 inch long piece
  •         Raw coconut - 2 tbsp (grated pieces) if you want
  •         Green chilli - 2
  •         Ghee - 1 tbsp
  •         Heeng(asafoetida) - 2 pinch
  •         Jeera(cumin seeds) - 1/4 tsp
  •         Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  •         Coriander(dhaniya) powder - 1 tsp
  •         Red chilli powder - less than 1/4 tsp
  •         Garam masala - less than 1/4 tsp
  •         Grren coriander - 1 tbsp
     

How to make Sprouted Moong Dal Curry

Wash Sprouted  Moong and put it in the cooker, add water(three times the quantity of moong) and salt then close the cooker allowing the dal to cook. After 1 whistle goes off cook dal on a low flame for 3-4 minutes.

Make a fine paste of tomatoes, green chilli, ginger and coconut in a mixer. Pour Ghee in a pan and heat, then put Heeng and Jeera in hot Ghee. Once Jeera is fried put in turmeric powder, coriander powder, tomato paste and fry till Ghee floats over the spices.

Open the cooker and add water according to how thick or thin you want the dal. Also put in the fried spices, red chilli powder, garam masala and mix properly. Sprouted Moong dal is ready. Taste dal and adjust salt.

Take out the dal you have prepared in a bowl, garnish with green coriander and Ghee. Serve hot Sprouted Moong dal with chapati, naan or parantha and eat.

Cooking time - 30 minutes

Snack

Take 1 cup of Sprouted Moong dal, mix with 1 spoon butter and little salt then keep it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Then remove it and put some lemon juice, 1/4 black pepper and 1 tbsp roasted peanuts. You can have it before having breakfast or dinner and you will surely like it.
