Ingredients for Urad Chane Ki Dal Recipe
White Lentils – 75 gm
Chickpea lentils – 50 gm
Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Tomato – 2 to 3
Green chili – 2 to 3
Ginger – 2 inches long piece
Asafetida – 1 to 2 pinch
Cumin seed – ½ small spoon
Turmeric powder - ¼ small spoon
Coriander seed powder – 1 small spoon
Red chili powder - ¼ small spoon
Garam Masala - ¼ small spoon
Salt - ¾ small spoon (or as per taste)
Coriander – 1 tablespoon (cut finely)
How to make Urad Chane Ki Dal Recipe
Soak the chickpeas and white lentils in water for 2 hours.
Grind tomato, green chili and 1 inch long ginger piece in a grinder to make a fine paste.
Put the ghee in a cooker and heat it. Put asafetida and cumin seed in the hot ghee. After the cumin seed turns brown add turmeric powder, coriander seed powder and red chili powder. Now quickly add the tomato paste. Now fry the masala till the ghee starts floating on the surface.
Add white lentils and chickpea to the masala in the cooker. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes while stirring. Now mix 350 gm water (1 ½ glass), salt and ginger (1 inch long piece, finely cut) in the lentils. Close the cooker.
Lower the flame after one whistle of the cooker. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes and turn off the burner.
Open the cooker after it has released its pressure. Mix garam masala and coriander in the lentils.
Take out the Dal in a bowl and garnish with cream. The delicious Urad Chane Ki Dal is now ready to serve and eat along with missi roti, chapati or naan.
